SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS - CLOSING FOR 2024

Senior Scholarships are open to new applicants who are entering Year 11. The scholarship covers all or part tuition of fees for Years 11 and 12. This scholarship is awarded on the basis of performing arts and or academic achievement as shown in school reports, supporting documentation and entry audition.

THE APGS SENIOR EXPERIENCE

Students choose APGS for their senior studies because they are inspired to pursue a creative education. We will always offer all four creating/performing arts courses for senior study; Music, Drama, Dance and Visual Arts. APGS allows students to engage with their passions while achieving the High School Certificate.  We provide a unique way for students to approach their HSC with integrated specialist training in the performing arts delivered by our rotating staff of performing arts tutors. APGS provides a place for students to engage with like-minded peers and to celebrate their creativity.

Scholarship Application Process

-To start the application process or be placed on the waitlist
-To send through the required supporting documentation
STEP 3: Audition process
-Send through 2 Audition pieces or visual arts portfolio on their principal and/or second performing art.
-Attend a Scholarship interview with the Head of Sghool
STEP 4: Outcome
-Scholarship outcomes will be sent out within 3-4 weeks of your childs interview.
-Applicants will be advised via email and text.
-$1,500 acceptance fee applies.

 

The following Scholarship Awards are offered for Senior Students:

Academic Scholarships are open to any new student who has demonstrated significant promise and dedication in their academic studies, or any existing student who through their hard work has greatly improved academically. Academic Scholarships are for students who are exceptionally high achievers academically. The scholarship is awarded for the duration of their study at APGS and is reviewed annually.

Music scholarships are awarded to students of exceptional ability and/or accomplishment in this area of the performing arts. Recipients of Music Scholarships will be performers of an extremely high caliber; these musicians are expected to contribute to the Performing Arts rich experience at APGS through active involvement in showcases and other performances. The scholarship is awarded for the duration of their study at APGS and is reviewed annually.

Dance Scholarships are awarded to gifted dancers who through their talent and hard work have achieved success at numerous levels. Recipients of this scholarship are expected to perform at an extremely high level and are expected to extend their training outside of school. Additionally they are expected to contribute significantly to the Performing Arts curriculum through involvement in showcases and other performances. The scholarship is awarded for the duration of their study at APGS and is reviewed annually.

Drama scholarships are awarded to talented young actors who wish to extend themselves through the Performing Arts rich curriculum that APGS offers. Recipients of this scholarship are expected to engage with the arts both at school and outside of school and will be performers of an exceptionally high caliber who are both gifted and dedicated in the arena of acting. The scholarship is awarded for the duration of their study at APGS and is reviewed annually.

The APGS Visual Arts Scholarship is awarded to young artists who show exceptional talent and potential to develop in their artistic expression. Recipients of this scholarship are expected to maintain an extremely high standard of artistic practice and to extend themselves artistically. The scholarship is awarded for the duration of their study at APGS and is reviewed annually.

The APGS Directors Scholarship is open to new applicants and current students who are entering Year 11. The scholarship covers full tuition fees for Years 11 and 12. This scholarship is awarded to one student on the basis of academic achievement in Year 9 and Year 10 as shown in school reports and supporting documentation.

 To be eligible students need to be:

  • Academically proficient and place in the top 5 of the cohort
  • Dedicated and exceptional in their performing arts endeavouring
  • Actively involved in the school community and represent the school in activities as required
  • Exemplary and engaged in the school community
  • Represent the school in external events

APGS offers one Indigenous Scholarship per year group; this scholarship is open to Year 11 students who are of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background, the scholarship is awarded for the duration of their study at APGS and is reviewed annually. The APGS Indigenous scholarship is awarded to a student of this background who exhibits extraordinary potential in Academics and/or the Performing Arts. This scholarship entitles the holder to the remission of all tuition fees, enrolment fees and levies.

 

Curriculum Years 11 & 12

In Years 11 and 12 students are offered a broad range of courses to satisfy the requirements of the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA). Year 11 (Preliminary HSC) students are required to study a minimum of 12 units and Year 12 (HSC) must study a minimum of 10 units. English is a mandatory course in Stage 6.

Stage 6 - Year 11 and 12

  • Design & Technology
  • Drama
  • Music (Course 1)
  • Dance
  • Visual Arts

 

Senior students may select other courses to undertake for their HSC which are available through (non-languages),  (languages) or subjects. Such courses attract an additional fee. 

 

Performing Arts Curriculum

 
Alongside our Academic Curriculum, Senior students participate in the PA program on a Friday afternoon. Throughout their Visual Arts, Dance, Music and Drama Preliminary classes, industry professionals will be invited to provide further enrichment in their learning experience.
